Blake Bee has announced he has joined Kalshi as director of state government affairs at the New York-based predictions market.

Prior to the move, Bee was senior manager for public policy at Amazon between May 2024 and January 2026.

Before that role, he spent seven years at the National Association of Attorneys General, first as programme counsel and later as director of the trade body’s Center for Leadership Development at the Training and Research Institute.

Between 2009 and 2017, Bee was employed at the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office in various roles, including special assistant to the Attorney General.

He also had a brief spell as associate at law firm Adams and Reese LLP.

Announcing his latest move on LinkedIn, Bee said he “couldn’t be more excited” to join Kalshi and its mission to “bring more truth to the world through the power of markets”.

Kalshi, which last week signed up golfer Bryson DeChambeau as a brand ambassador, recruited former Uber exec Saurabh Tejwani in November as the firm’s first CFO.

Donald Trump Jr, the US president’s eldest child, is a strategic advisor to both Kalshi and blockchain-powered predictions market Polymarket.

Kalshi announced in early January that it had achieved $100bn in annualised trading volume.

While predictions markets first came to prominence around the 2024 presidential election, around 90% of the platform’s trading volume is from sports, with the remainder down to political, economic and cultural event contracts.

Founded by MIT grads Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara, Kalshi, which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, was valued at $11bn in December following a $1bn Series E funding round raise.

The predictions market space continues to heat up in the US, with FanDuel expanding its offering, FanDuel Predicts, to all 50 states last week, while DraftKings and Fanatics have expanded into offering event contracts.

Retail brokerage Robinhood and crypto exchanges Crypto.com and Coinbase also offer prediction markets, including sports.
