Warsaw, PolandABOUT USOur Sports Media Team is seeking a passionate Staff Software Engineer who loves to solve problems, build cloud native solutions, and excels on cross-functional teams of talented peers.
 
What does the Sports Media Team work on?

We work with exclusive data rights for top leagues such as MLB, NBA, NHL, and NASCAR, giving us direct access to in‑stadium data, including player and optical tracking. For other leagues like the NFL, NCAA, and global sports, we build tooling for our extensive scouting network.Our systems power the fastest and most accurate live game data in the market — supporting billions of API calls monthly and enabling global partners like Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook, The Score, and Bleacher Report to build exceptional fan experiences.Our analytics and broadcast solutions also help storytellers at Fox Sports, Bally Sports, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, and more deliver the narratives, statistics, and graphics seen by millions during major sporting events — from the World Series to the Super Bowl.THE CHALLANGETechnical LeadershipLead design and architecture for major systems or product areas across multiple teamsGuide engineers in making high‑quality technical decisions and establish standards for reliability, performance, and scalabilityEvaluate and introduce technologies that improve system design and developer productivitySystem Architecture & DeliveryDrive multi‑team, multi‑quarter technical initiatives from planning through executionArchitect distributed, high‑availability, cloud‑native systems that operate at global scalePartner with other engineering leaders to ensure architectural alignment across the organizationCross‑Functional CollaborationWork closely with Product and Engineering Managers to shape technical roadmapsBreak down complex requirements into achievable technical plans and ensure successful deliveryCommunicate architectural decisions clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholdersMentorship & InfluenceMentor Senior Engineers and grow emerging technical leadersCreate a culture of craftsmanship, operational excellence, and continuous improvementProvide thoughtful code reviews and guide teams toward long‑term sustainabilityOperational ExcellenceIdentify systemic issues affecting reliability, scalability, and performance and lead efforts to resolve themImprove team and org‑wide engineering practices, patterns, and toolingEncourage and model best practices, including AI‑assisted development workflowsABOUT YOU8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including large‑scale production systemsDeep expertise in distributed systems, cloud‑native architectures, and high‑throughput servicesStrong architectural skills, with the ability to design for scale, reliability, and maintainabilityProven ability to lead cross‑team initiatives and drive results across multiple contributorsExcellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines and leadership levelsExperience mentoring EngineersStrong knowledge of one or more areas of our stack (JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, AWS, event‑driven architectures, SQL/NoSQL databases, GraphQL)Experience contributing to or defining engineering standards, patterns, or best practicesBonus:Experience with AWS serverlessExperience designing high‑performance, real‑time data pipelinesFamiliarity with Apollo Federation GraphQL or large‑scale developer API ecosystemsExperience building or maintaining mission‑critical systems for media, streaming, or data platformsFamiliarity with using AI tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) in engineering workflowsPrimary Tech Stack:
