Sr. Reporter - Brazil

Our client, a global media and conference brand in the iGaming sector, is looking for a Senior Reporter for Brazil to launch and lead daily coverage from the region. You will build and manage a network of sources across operators, regulators, suppliers, agencies, and analysts, while filing fast, accurate stories in Portuguese and supporting English briefs for the global team. Over time, you will become the lead journalist on the Brazil desk, shaping priorities, producing explainers and long-form investigations, and supporting the growth of Portuguese-language readership and distribution. The role covers marketing, CRM, events, PR, and affiliates within the iGaming beat. This role is remote within Brazil or in Brazil-friendly time zones with CET overlap. Relocation is not offered for this role; you must be based in Brazil or a Brazil-friendly time zone. Responsibilities: Lead daily coverage on regulation, enforcement, market entries, deals, products, payments, and marketing activity in the Brazilian iGaming market. File clean, timely copy in Brazilian Portuguese and produce short English briefs for the global team. Editorial standards & analysis: Produce explainers and analysis pieces; apply strong editorial judgment; uphold integrity-first standards, including right of reply and transparent corrections. Sourcing & exclusives: Build and maintain a Brazil beat map with 25–40 priority sources; develop trusted relationships with regulators, operators, suppliers, and analysts; land at least two exclusives per quarter. SEO & distribution: Apply PT-BR news SEO best practices (headlines, internal linking, taxonomy, schema where applicable); collaborate with Website Master and Marketing to grow organic traffic and backlinks. Collaboration & mentorship: Work closely with the News Editor, Head of Media, Research, and Events teams; support event coverage with live blogs and post-event wraps; mentor the Junior Brazil Reporter, contribute to PT-BR styleguides and SOPs. Requirements: Native-level Brazilian Portuguese writing and editing skills; professional working English for briefs and team communication. 3–5+ years’ reporting experience in business, regulation, or technology (iGaming or highly relevant sectors). Proven ability to develop sources and land exclusives. Strong grammar, accuracy, and headline craft. Discipline around deadlines, integrity, and compliance. Nice to Have: Familiarity with Brazilian public records and court/agency filings. Experience with data visualization and analysis. Comfort with on-camera or podcast appearances.
