AffPapa has spoken with Eman Pulis, Founder of SiGMA, to discuss the defining moments behind SiGMA’s international expansion, the reasoning behind bringing SiGMA Central Europe to Rome in 2025, and how the brand continues to scale globally.

Yeva: You’ve brought SiGMA to an international level, turning it into a worldwide brand. Can you share a moment that stood out the most to you throughout the whole process?

The 2020 pandemic was a defining moment that truly stands out — a do-or-die situation that tested our resilience as a company. We had just opened our office in the Philippines and announced our first international event in Manila when Covid struck. Practically overnight, the events industry came to a standstill. Rather than stepping back, we made the bold decision to adapt — choosing to move forward in 2021 with a summit in Dubai. Against all odds, it turned out to be a tremendous success and marked the beginning of SiGMA’s global journey.

That period also sparked significant growth for us — we launched SiGMA Play, our affiliate program expanding into media, as well as the SiGMA Foundation, our charitable arm, and even a VC fund. It was a challenging time, but also an invaluable reminder that adaptability and resilience are essential for survival and progress.

Since then, one of our proudest achievements has been maintaining the same high standards as we expanded worldwide. With over 340 skilled professionals across six offices, we’re well-positioned to deliver excellence wherever we go. Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue that journey with our upcoming 2026 World Tour, featuring events in eight key cities and over 110 side events.

Yeva: What factors primarily drew SiGMA to Rome in 2025, and what made you think this is the perfect time to hold the event in Italy?

Italy is one of Europe’s biggest untapped online gambling markets. The online sector is expanding rapidly and is expected to reach nearly €3.8 billion by 2029.

Hosting SiGMA Central Europe in Rome places the event at the heart of this transformation, giving delegates the chance to connect with one of Europe’s most dynamic and fast-growing markets. With a strong international presence — an estimated 80% of attendees expected to come from outside Italy — the event will bring significant economic impact while reinforcing Rome’s position on the global stage.

The strategic timing in November also supports Rome’s tourism economy during the off-season, ensuring strong local engagement and citywide visibility.

Rome is increasingly recognized as a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship, building on its growing credibility as a tech-policy venue. Italy now leads Europe in venture capital growth, supported by initiatives such as the Houses of Emerging Technologies, which foster innovation in fintech and other emerging fields. SiGMA Central Europe’s clear positioning in high-growth sectors such as AI, gaming, and blockchain aligns perfectly with this national momentum toward technological advancement.

As a city that has inspired progress for centuries, Rome offers the ideal backdrop for conversations shaping the future of gaming and digital investment. Its strong transport links — including two international airports, a modern metro system, and efficient city access — make it both accessible and welcoming. Combined with its rich cultural heritage, it’s an ideal meeting point for a truly global audience.

SiGMA Central Europe 2025 is expected to attract around 30,000 delegates, 550 speakers, and over 1,200 exhibitors and sponsors to Fiera Roma, one of Europe’s leading exhibition centers — marking another milestone in Rome’s evolution as a global hub for innovation, investment, and collaboration.

Yeva: We know that most of the space for the Rome event is already booked. Was this level of enthusiasm from exhibitors and delegates something that you’ve expected?

While we anticipated strong interest, the level of enthusiasm we’ve seen for the Rome event has exceeded expectations. There is clearly a strong appetite for an event of this scale and scope – and we’re excited to explore everything this high-potential market has to offer. The combination of Rome’s appeal as a host city, an extensive conference agenda backed by experts, government figures, and leading industry giants, and the opportunities for high-quality networking, have all contributed – and we can’t wait to witness it all unfold.

Yeva: The show’s agenda is packed with everything from startup pitches to tournaments and awards. Is there a particular moment or feature you’re personally excited to see come to life?

I’m especially excited about the auction at the awards. It’s always a fantastic moment that brings people together for a great cause. Beyond the energy and generosity in the room, it’s inspiring to see how the funds raised make a real difference through the SiGMA Foundation’s charitable work. It’s a highlight that reminds us of the meaningful impact our industry can have beyond business.

Yeva: SiGMA’s VIP program for C-level casino operators is quite unique. What kind of experience are you hoping to create for these top-tier guests in Rome?

SiGMA Nexus was designed with C-level executives and senior operators in mind — individuals navigating high-stakes environments who value both efficiency and exclusivity. We sought to create an experience that blends luxury with purpose: a space where top-tier leaders can connect, collaborate, and gain real value.

Building on SiGMA’s existing concierge service, this bespoke initiative offers a comprehensive suite of benefits — from access to exclusive VIP lounges, private dinners, and executive retreats, to complimentary passes for all SiGMA expos. Members will also enjoy entry to our flagship events, such as the SiGMA Awards, as well as professional training opportunities through the iGaming Academy.

But what truly sets this program apart is its holistic approach. Beyond premium experiences, we’re offering unfiltered access to knowledge and insights — through workshops, white papers, and webinars — creating a 360° platform that supports professional growth and strategic networking.

Ultimately, our goal is to set a new standard for industry leadership. Whether it’s entertaining clients in style or engaging with SiGMA’s global network of resources, products, and services, the SiGMA Nexus program empowers executives.

Yeva: Next year is looking massive for SiGMA, with an ambitious lineup of shows in Dubai, Malta, Brazil, Philippines, Africa, Mexico, Rome, and Thailand. Naturally, each region you’re heading to is an entirely different market with its unique culture and iGaming landscape.  How do you make sure each event feels locally relevant while still carrying the “universal” SiGMA DNA?

At SiGMA, we make sure every event feels relevant by really embracing the culture and character of each region we visit. With over 340 skilled team members and offices across six countries, we have people on the ground with specialised skills and localised knowledge that can tailor each show to fit regional and local needs, from the themes we cover to the languages we use.

Our content and conferences are often produced in multiple languages to connect better with a wider diversity of audiences, and we work closely with regional partners to ensure every event feels authentic. At the same time, we keep the same high standards and spirit that define the SiGMA brand everywhere we go — innovation, quality, and a strong sense of community.

This balance between global vision and local insight is what keeps the SiGMA DNA alive, no matter where in the world we are.

Yeva: Organizing events on this scale can’t be easy. What keeps you motivated through the intensity of it all?

Organising events of this scale is certainly no small feat, but what keeps me going is a deep passion for what I do and the incredible sense of purpose behind it. I’ve learned that sustaining motivation isn’t just about working hard –  it’s about finding balance. Clear priorities, a dedicated team I can rely on, and time with my family all play a huge role in helping me stay focused and energized.

What truly drives me, though, is knowing that our work extends beyond the events themselves. Every show we organise has the potential to connect people, spark innovation, and create opportunities across industries and borders. That impact keeps me inspired, even through the most intense periods.

It’s also what led us to launch the SiGMA Foundation as part of our global vision. As the SiGMA Group has expanded its footprint across Africa, the Americas, and Asia, we’ve felt a strong responsibility to give back to the communities that have welcomed us. Through the Foundation, we’re supporting projects that make a tangible difference — from building homes and improving access to education, to delivering essential healthcare where it’s needed most.

At the end of the day, it’s that blend of purpose, people, and passion that keeps the fire burning — and makes every challenge worthwhile.
