Inspired Entertainment’s board of directors has promoted from within for a new CFO after James Richardson stepped down from the role.
Craig Wilson has transitioned from his position as vice-president of finance and accounting to become both CFO and executive vice-president, effective Thursday, 14 May.
Richardson will remain with the supplier for three months to support with the transition period.
Inspired Entertainment did not disclose a reason as to why Richardson had stepped down from his post.
Wilson held the VP role since April last year when he joined from pharmaceutical research company Charles River Laboratories.
Starting at Charles River in 2019 as international financial accounting manager, Wilson became senior manager of European accounting at the firm in March 2021 and director of accounting and global consolidations in January 2023.
Richardson was brought in as Inspired Entertainment CFO in January 2025 from British airport operator MAG.
During his five-year stint with MAG, which runs London Stansted, Manchester airport and East Midlands airport, Richardson held finance director roles and had a spell as group commercial finance director.
He had previous experience in the gambling industry as William Hill’s global online CFO from 2017 to 2019.
Brooks Pierce, Inspired Entertainment president and CEO, said: “Craig’s promotion to the role of executive vice-president and CFO reflects the board’s confidence in his ability to lead the finance function at this stage of the company’s development.
“On behalf of the board and the executive team, I would like to thank James for his contribution to the company and wish him well in all his future endeavours.”
On the firm’s Q1 earnings call earlier in May, Pierce was bullish on growth opportunities in the UK despite the recent remote gaming duty hike.
In its first quarter since divesting its holiday parks business at the end of 2025, Inspired Entertainment reported year-on-year revenue growth of 15% to $57.2m (£42.7m), and adjusted EBITDA growth of 29% to $23.7m.
Pierce attributed the growth to high-performing game releases and working “closely with our operator partners on securing prime placements and supporting promotional activity for exclusives as a key part of our offering”.
Inspired made its first entry into South Africa last month, launching its igaming portfolio with six operators including Hollywoodbets and Betway.
