International Game Technology (IGT) has announced it has rebranded its global lottery division to Brightstar Lottery, effective immediately.
Following the upcoming sale of IGT’s gaming and digital arm to Apollo Global Management, Brightstar will operate as a “premier pure play lottery business designed to elevate lotteries and inspire players”.
IGT’s global gaming and PlayDigital arms combined with Everi initially, before that entity was sold to Apollo in July 2024 in a deal worth up to $6.3bn.
From that total, $4.05bn was allocated for the purchase of IGT Gaming. The company is expected to use most of the funds to repay debts and pay shareholders.
The deal will see IGT Gaming and Everi function as privately owned companies that form part of one larger enterprise.
The sale is expected to complete imminently, with optimism that it can be finalised as early as 1 July 2025.
The remaining IGT business, which will be comprised solely of its global lottery arm, will henceforth rebrand to Brightstar.
Moving forward, Brightstar said it will “continue to modernise core technologies and blend heritage with innovation, providing responsible, sustainable solutions to customers around the world”.
A Brightstar statement read: “The new Brightstar brand invokes the company’s forward-thinking global leadership in the lottery industry, acting as a guiding light and source of inspiration and innovation for lottery customers and players.
“As Brightstar, the company will build on its legacy of delivering unparalleled player experiences and results for its lottery customers around the globe and across the entire lottery value chain, including as a lottery operator, retail and digital systems and technology provider, full-service instant ticket services provider and game creator.”
The company currently serves around 90 lottery clients worldwide, serving as the main provider for 26 of the 46 lottery jurisdictions in the US.
Brightstar CEO Vince Sadusky said: “We have a nearly 50-year history of reliability, innovation and leadership in lottery, a bedrock from which we are launching Brightstar with a future-forward mindset of helping lottery customers around the world succeed in an environment of digital adoption, shifting player expectations and an increasing variety of gaming choices.”
Marco Sala, executive chair of the Brightstar board, added: “Brightstar will be well-positioned to focus on driving innovation and growing the potential of the lottery business responsibly for the entertainment of players, the success of our customers and the support of the good causes they fund in their communities.”
Last month, the LottoItalia consortium consisting of Allwyn, Arianna 2001, Novomatic Italia and headed up by IGT secured a licence to operate the Italian lottery until 2034.
IGT recorded revenue of $583m for the first quarter of 2025, representing a 12% decrease year over year.
