Introduction
In this article we will quickly see two options on how to remove space after paragraph in Google Docs. You might notice blank space after and before paragraph in Google Docs, most of the time when we copy and paste the texts from different sources.
Quick Guide:
- From the top menu, select “Format” > “Line & paragraph spacing” > “Remove space after paragraph”.
Option 1:
Step 1: Below we have copied some texts from the net, and you can notice the white space after and before paragraph.

Step 2: Select all the text by using ctrl+a, or just the paragraphs you want to remove the white space.
Step 3: Go to the top menu, select “Format” > “Line & paragraph spacing” > “Remove space after paragraph”.
Step 4: Select “Format” > “Line & paragraph spacing” > “Remove space before paragraph”.


Below is the Google Docs paragraphs after removing the white spaces.

Option 2:
If you do not have the option “Remove space after paragraph” and “Remove space before paragraph”, you can do this option to remove space before and after the paragraph.
Step 1: Go to top menu, select “Format” > “Line & paragraph spacing” > “Custom spacing”.
Step 2: Under “Paragraph spacing (pts)”, enter 1 on both “Before” and “After” boxes. You can enter whatever spacing points is your requirement, but usually 1 is good enough.


Note: Whatever number you enter for paragraph spacing it is relative to your Line spacing. For instance, if your line spacing is set to “1.5” and you choose a paragraph spacing of “1”, the gap between paragraphs will be greater compared to a line spacing of “1.15”.

- The below image has Line spacing of “1.5” and Paragraph spacing of “1”, you can see the last line is near to 11 on the left side scale.
