Holland Casino reopened the renovated Holland Casino Enschede on September 19. After a year of renovation, the casino is completely ready for the future. Mayor Roelof Bleker took care of the ceremonial act during a private reopening party.
The four-storey casino in the city centre of Enschede once again fully meets the requirements that Holland Casino sets for a modern casino. The entrance has been completely renovated and the casino floor has become a lot more modern with more daylight. Daylight also contributes greatly to promoting healthy casino visits.
Casino manager Rolf Paapst: “Last year, we asked a lot of our guests and employees. But they have received something very nice in return. I am incredibly proud of the result. The connection with Enschede comes back in a beautiful way. Among other things, with a street atlas of the city in the ceiling and in the wavy canvases on the ceiling that refer to the textile past. The casino in Enschede now also has the modern restaurant concept Taste Brasserie & Wines. With the renovation of Enschede, our guests once again have a casino that fully meets the need and is ready to grow further.”
During the festive reopening, the connection between Holland Casino and the craftsmanship of the textile city will once again be central. At the reopening with the theme Red Couture, tradition and innovation will go hand in hand.
Holland Casino started the renovation in August 2023. The then 21-year-old casino was in need of modernization. The casino has never been completely closed during the renovation. However, slot machines, bars and restaurants were moved, gaming tables were made more compact and arranged differently and, for example, the Classic Bingo could not take place for a short period of time.
Mr Paapst added: “We have managed to keep the impact for our guests to a minimum. They still managed to find us last year and the appreciation was still high.”
Holland Casino wants to continue to invest in its casinos where it can in order to remain attractive to its guests. This is part of the company’s revised strategy. However, a number of cost-saving choices were made during the renovation in Enschede. For example, it was decided not to tackle the fourth floor.
CEO Petra de Ruiter added: “I am extremely happy for the guests, employees and residents of Enschede with the renovated casino. As one of the icons in the city centre, it now also has the grandeur it deserves on the inside. The fact that we were able to do this also makes me proud. Such a renovation in this day and age is not self-evident. Investments are under great pressure due to the high cost level that Holland Casino has to deal with. The fact that we have been able to set up such a fantastic casino in Enschede is therefore extra special to me.”
