Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has announced the appointment of Casper Stylsvig as executive director of its sports business, as it pushes on with plans to transform into a global sports brand.

Stylsvig will also serve on the monopoly operator’s management board and report directly into CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.

The role with HKJC is Stylsvig’s first in the industry, having spent the last two decades in football working for several major European clubs.

Most recently he was the chief revenue officer of Chelsea, having joined the club in November 2023.

Prior to that, Stylsvig held the same position with AC Milan between March 2019 and November 2023 and Fulham from May 2016 to February 2019.

He also spent just over seven-and-a-half years with Manchester United, from August 2008 to April 2016, as their global sponsorship director.

Additionally, Stylsvig had a two-year stint with Barcelona as their regional manager between July 2006 and August 2008.

Now at HKJC, Stylsvig will be tasked with growing its non-wagering and wagering related streams.

This will include the commercialisation of its current assets as well as creating new revenue streams from sponsors and partners.

Other responsibilities will involve taking the lead in global growth opportunities, managing the sports wagering portfolio and transforming the club’s sports business.

On his appointment, Stylsvig said: “It’s an incredible honour to join The Hong Kong Jockey Club at such an exciting time in its evolution.

“The club stands among the world’s most respected sports organisations, combining commercial excellence with a deep social purpose.

“This role represents a natural progressive next step in my career – bringing together best practices from global football to help shape the future of a truly unique, multi-sport business.

“I’m looking forward to working with Winfried [Engelbrecht-Bresges] and the team to drive innovation, expand our international footprint and create world-class experiences for customers and fans in Hong Kong and beyond.”

HKJC announced its plans to transform into a global sports entertainment brand back in May, hiring Sarena Lin as its new chief transformation officer to lead its transformation office.
