Hard Rock Bet’s new sportsbook campaign plants the brand deep in Ontario sports culture, with k-os, Saukrates, and a campaign built on local fan insight
Hard Rock Bet is putting its sportsbook on the board in Ontario, rolling out phase two of “Hard Rock Bet is Here” with creative partner Memory – built entirely around how Ontario actually watches, talks, and argues about sports.
Hard Rock Bet and Memory have approached the Ontario launch by pairing the recognition and equity of the Hard Rock name with a deliberately local point of view. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa already brought that energy to the province – Hard Rock Bet takes it digital, putting it in the fans hands wherever there are. For sportsbook, that means going beyond familiar category conventions to build the work around local sports fandom: the banter, knowledge, optimism, anticipation, and shared rituals that come with watching a game in Toronto.
“For us, being local has to go deeper than putting Ontario in an end card or referencing the teams people watch,” said Lauren Varnas, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Hard Rock Digital. “Sports fandom here has its own personality, its own humour and its own shared experiences. We pushed ourselves and Memory to find those truths and build Hard Rock Bet into them in a way that feels natural, while still delivering the entertainment, product experience and trust people expect from Hard Rock.”
The campaign centers on three new films featuring a recurring group of friends watching sports together, with Hard Rock Bet’s product story and personality emerging naturally through the banter — including appearances by Canadian hip-hop icons k-os and Saukrates.
“What’s exciting about this partnership is being able to approach the Ontario launch as a whole while giving casino and sportsbook room to speak to different audiences,” said Ryan Bullock, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at Memory. “It all has to add up to one unmistakable Hard Rock Bet.”
The launch spills out across the city, too, with another major video out-of-home program at Sankofa Square, Union Station, and The Well, using an immersive, motion-led approach that turns real moments of sporting tension into public-facing experiences.
“Localisation has to be something you feel, not just something the advertising tells you,” said Ian Mackenzie, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Memory. “Working with k-os and Saukrates, tapping into the specifics of Toronto sports fandom and carrying that energy across the campaign helps Hard Rock Bet feel like it genuinely belongs here.”
The sportsbook campaign launched September 4 across television, streaming, radio, digital, social, out-of-home, owned and performance channels throughout Ontario.
Ontarians already know Hard Rock. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa has been bringing the brand’s live entertainment and casino experience to the province since 2025, and Hard Rock Bet brings that same experience online
