Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming have expanded the Players Edge responsible gambling program in time for the Responsible Gambling Education Month (RGEM).

As part of the initiative, the program will receive a new awareness campaign, a digital health app pilot, and additional research partnerships, all in a bid to strengthen consumer protection and overcome the stigma surrounding the issues.

Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming Take Aim at Problem Gambling

Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming believe that they can provide players with additional tools and resources to help them make informed decisions when it comes to their gaming habits. The program is also focusing on player education and additional staff training to help recognize the signs of problem gambling.

The new initiative introduces the “Chance” campaign, which addresses the common belief among players that gambling outcomes can be predicted or influenced. The campaign’s core message: players can’t control chance, but they can control how they play.

The campaign focuses purely on establishing the basis of randomness and why it prevents people from outsmarting random occurrences. Besides this initiative, Hard Rock also tested the Almond Digital Health App at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, further expanding PlayersEdge into the digital domain.

On the matter of new partnerships, the companies continue to work on a number of initiatives.

They participate as founding members of the Better Gambling Forum, and PlayersEdge is working with Dr. Michael Wohl at Carleton University to advance specific research into understanding gambling-related issues.

The companies do not stop there either, as they are moving past supporting RG over a single month and incorporating similar efforts throughout the year.

RG Becomes Year-Round Priority for the Partners

Responsible gambling is about empowering players, team members and guests with knowledge, research and support so they can make informed choices that work for them,” noted Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming VP of global social responsibility, Paul Pellizzari.

“Through PlayersEdge, we continue to invest in innovative education, research and training initiatives that help advance positive play while strengthening our ability to support guests who may need assistance,” he added.

The idea behind PlayersEdge is to go beyond targeting a single group, and it extends to covering every patron and gambler – whether they are new, seasoned regulars, or casuals.
