Entain has officially opened its new £7.5m office in Gibraltar that the Rock’s government has praised as a “continued confidence” in the British Overseas Territory.
The refurbished hub, which has opened with a new 10-year lease, spans 46,000 sq ft and will house various departments for the Ladbrokes and Coral parent company.
The space encompasses several floors, features 528 “flexible workstations” and more than 200 meeting room seats.
More than 700 Entain staff are based in Gibraltar. The FTSE 100 company runs operations for its Coral, Foxy, Gala and PartyPoker brands from the office.
The refurbished hub is at Entain’s Atlantic Suites base and will bring all of the operator’s Gibraltar teams into one location for the first time.
The firm previously had other hubs at Regal House and Europort.
The new office was officially opened on Monday, 30 March, by Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and minister for justice, trade and industry Nigel Feetham.
The investment in the new space comes as Entain braces for remote gaming duty in the UK to leap from 21% to 40% on Wednesday, 1 April.
Remote general betting duty, excluding UK horseracing, will move from 15% to 25% in April 2027.
Gibraltar is home to several UK-focused gambling operators such as BVGroup, Rank Group and evoke.
In December, Feetham said the tax increases were “bad news” for Gibraltar.
The industry employs more than 3,400 people on the Rock and accounts for around 30% of GDP.
Elsewhere, the new Treaty on Gibraltar’s relationship with the European Union is due to ease border friction, in theory giving those who live in Spain and cross into Gibraltar to work a more fluid access.
Simon Zinger, Entain chief customer care officer and general counsel, said: “This is a proud moment for Gibraltar and for Entain.
“Gibraltar has long been an important part of our story and, as one of the largest employers in the region, we’re proud of our talented Entain team on the Rock.
“I want to offer my sincere congratulations to every team member involved in making this project a reality.”
Feetham added: “Entain employs over 700 people in Gibraltar. I worked closely with the company and the industry last year in engaging with the UK government on the gambling duty proposals.
