GG.BET has announced its plans to shutter operations and withdraw from the UK market at the start of this year after surrendering its Gambling Commission licence.

The operator posted a notice on its website informing players of the decision as part of a “planned platform closure”.

The winding down process initially began on 12 December, when GG.BET stopped accepting registrations from new players.

GG.BET also stopped accepting deposits from existing players from that date, as well as any bets on slots, live casino or sporting events.

Customers have until 9 January 2026 to withdraw their remaining balance from their accounts.

The notice on GG.BET’s website read: “Dear players, GGBET.co.uk is preparing to wind down its operations under the Gambling Commission licence as part of a planned platform closure.

“We are managing this process responsibly to ensure every customer can withdraw their funds and receive full support before the closure takes effect.”

The operator reiterated that any existing bets placed on events prior to the closure date will be settled normally.

Any unsettled bets on events which take place after the closure date will be voided, with the stakes automatically refunded to account holders.

GG.Bet had been operating in the UK via the Rednines licence. Rednindes was awarded online casino and sports betting permits by the Gambling Commission in April 2020.

The operator launched in the summer of 2023, with Rednines having previously run the Dr.Bet brand in the market.

GG.BET’s UK closure comes off the back of significant tax increases in the market announced in November.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced during the Autumn Budget that remote gaming duty in the UK would increase from 21% to 40%, effective from April 2026.

Remote general betting duty will also jump from 15% to 25% as part of the tax increases, with that hike coming into effect from April 202.

This has led to a several major operators considering their positions in the UK market as a result.
