GAMING1 has acquired Belgian online casino operator Carousel in an undisclosed deal the firm said would “further strengthen [its] digital presence in Belgium”.
The Ardent Group-owned business confirmed it had completed the acquisition of Carousel on 22 September.
Carousel, which offers online casino and live casino in Belgium, is owned by Pac-Man NV. Via the deal, GAMING1 has acquired 100% of the shares in the parent company.
GAMING1 runs several online brands in Belgium, including 777, Circus and CASINO1, which launched last summer.
The operator said Carousel would be “integrated into GAMING1 with immediate effect”.
“As the transaction does not involve the transfer of any employees, our teams are working closely together to ensure the smooth and effective integration of all activities,” the company statement added.
The transaction marks another major piece of M&A for GAMING1 after it snapped up the remaining 50% in its Netherlands JV with Gran Casino.
The JV saw GAMING1 bring its Circus brand to the Dutch market. The agreement was first put in place in 2022.
Last week, the Belgian Gaming Commission published its 2025 annual report which showed online GGR was up 5.4% year on year to €964.5m.
Online sports betting GGR was up 5.2% to €244.6m, while online casino GGR jumped 13% to €554.1m for operators holding a Class A licence only.
Class A licences are tied to the nine land-based Class A licences in the country. Class B licences are also available which allow land-based slots operators to launch online sites, excluding table games.
GGR from those sites with a Class B licence was down 13.7% to €166.8m.
H2 Gambling Capital forecasts online GGR in Belgian will hit €1.9bn in 2031, with GGR per adult hitting €279 in the same year.
Sylvain Boniver, GAMING1 COO, said: “We believe this acquisition will further strengthen our digital presence in Belgium and enhance the fun and engaging entertainment experience we offer our players.
“It will also support our ambition to provide a safe, responsible and distinctive offering in the regulated Belgian market.”
