Corbishley has spent the last four years with the British Red Cross as its senior director of health and care. She previously worked within the NHS in various management roles related to its voluntary and healthcare innovation sectors.

“As GamCare navigates the evolving landscape, Victoria’s leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our collaborations with the NHS as well as UKRI and OHID as the new prevention commissioner,” GamCare board chair Margot Daly said in a statement released today (27 February).

GamCare stated that by hiring Corbishley, it aims to enhance accessibility and deepen its collaboration with key stakeholders, as well as oversee and expand the group’s outreach, treatment, and education services.

Speaking on her appointment, Corbishley said: “Last year alone, GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline received over 55,000 calls and online chats. The charity also directly delivered more than 9,100 structured treatment sessions, referred over 7,100 individuals to other regional support providers, and 64,000 people participated in the charity’s education programmes.

“These numbers highlight the essential role GamCare plays in supporting those affected by gambling harms and reinforce our commitment to accessible, high-quality care.”

## GamCare Interim CEO Steps Aside

Corbishley is replacing D’Arcy Myers, who served as interim CEO of GamCare since August 2023. Myers took over the position from Anna Hemmings, who had been the group’s CEO for five years.

Previously, Myers led The Percy Hedley Foundation, Allergy UK, and The Solicitors Charity. He also chaired The Smallwood Trust and Association of Charitable Organisations.

In 2023, GamCare secured funding from the gambling support charity Gamble Aware. This funding enabled GamCare to operate for an additional three years. The charity has operated the National Gambling Helpline for the past 25 years, facilitating digital tools to assist problematic gamblers.

With that funding, the charity stated it would work to improve its digital tools and resources that support the National Gambling Helpline, including delivering greater regional services and treatment across London, Yorkshire and Humber, Scotland, the South East, East Midlands, and the North East.

Last year, GamCare appointed Mark Weiss as the charity’s deputy CEO. Previously, Weiss spent seven years working at the UK Faculty of Public Health. He joined GamCare in 2022 and led the group’s communications and “external engagement” programme.

UK gambling support charity GamCare has appointed former NHS manager and British Red Cross director Victoria Corbishley as its CEO.
