Gambling.com has appointed former bet365 and Yolo Group head James Clark as its new director of sports.
He arrives from Yolo Group after spending six months in the role of global head of content and SEO, having started in April 2025.
Before joining the crypto-centric operator, Clark had a three-year stint with bet365 in several positions, before taking a short break from the industry for four months.
He joined bet365 in January 2022 as its sports and betting news manager and a year later was promoted to head of editorial content in February 2023.
Clark’s stay with bet365 was his first in the industry, having previously spent nine-and-a-half years with ITV working as a sports reporter, programme producer and executive lead producer for the channel’s 2022 Commonwealth Games coverage.
In his new role with Gambling.com, Clark will lead the affiliate’s strategy and operations across content and SEO for its FreeBets.com brand.
Gambling.Com Group acquired FreeBets.com in 2024 as part of the deal worth up to $42.5m for XLMedia’s European and Canadian assets.
Speaking to EGR, Clark said: “I’m delighted to have accepted the position of director of sports at Gambling.com Group. It’s a company I’ve admired and followed closely over the years.
“I’ve worked in the sports and igaming industry all of my career, so it’s a real privilege to be leading the FreeBets.com strategy and operation across content, SEO and brand.
“With the FIFA World Cup taking place next year, excitement is already building, and I’m really looking forward to our customer offerings across both sports and casino.”
In August, Gambling.Com Group acquired Las Vegas-based booking platform Spotlight.Vegas for $39.6m (£29.2m).
The same month, CEO Charles Gillespie said prediction markets could become a significant part of the affiliate’s business over the next few years.
