Former Playtech deputy chair and long-serving gambling industry lawyer Hilary Stewart-Jones has been named as Payhound’s new non-executive director and chair.

Stewart-Jones has worked for several law firms over the past three decades, as well as blending B2B and B2C experience onto her extensive CV.

From 1991 to 1995, she was a commercial litigation attorney at Lawrence Graham before spending five-and-a-half years with Ladbrokes Coral as its head of legal for betting and gaming between April 1995 and October 2000.

She then served as a senior client partner at Berwin Leighton Paisner, before moving to DLA Piper as a partner from September 2011 to September 2013.

In October 2013, Stewart-Jones joined Playtech’s board as a non-executive director. A year later, she was named deputy chair, holding the position for two years.

Stewart-Jones was also CEO and chair of Skywind Group between September 2016 and December 2023.

During her stay at the supplier, she was also Paysafe Group’s non-executive director from May 2021 to October 2023.

Between October 2015 and February 2026, Stewart-Jones was the owner of HSJ Consult – a consultancy firm for the gambling industry. The new Payhound chair also served as an independent consultant for Harris Hagan.

Payhound, which operates in multiple sectors including igaming, counts Belgian operator GAMING1 as a client.

The business, which is headquartered in Malta, also offers crypto processing, as well as cross-border fiat transactions.

Elton Dimech has served as the supplier’s managing director since 2019.

Joining Payhound, the payment solutions firm said Stewart-Jones’s appointment “marks a step in strengthening its leadership, governance and regulatory foundations as it expands internationally”.

Payhound added: “A solicitor with more than 30 years’ of experience, Hilary is widely recognised for her expertise across gambling, fintech, payments, risk, compliance and financial regulation.

“She has advised governments, regulated businesses and international operators on licensing, AML, policy, regulatory frameworks and strategic growth.”
