Former Entain senior vice-president for American regulatory affairs and responsible gambling Martin Lycka has announced he has joined Oddin.gg as its new vice-president of institutional affairs.
Lycka joined Entain, then known as GVC Holdings, in April 2018. He stepped into his senior vice-president role in 2020.
As regulatory counsel, he was tasked with devising and launching a group wide regulatory strategy as well as improving the operator’s regulatory risk, licensing and gambling related education processes.
Upon the rebranding to Entain, he became senior vice-president of American regulatory affairs and responsible gambling, where he designed and implemented the operator’s US and Americas regulatory strategy.
Prior to joining Entain, Lycka spent over eight years with Paddy Power Betfair between September 2009 and January 2018.
Having left Entain last year, Lycka joins Oddin where he will aim to aid in expanding the brands portfolio globally.
The esports betting supplier, which is based out of Czechia, recently acquired esports data company GameScorekeeper.
The business is led by co-founder and MD Marek Suchar and counts operator partners such as Stake, Allwyn and Flutter’s Maxbet on its roster.
Speaking to EGR, Lycka said: “The new job, based in the US, focuses on devising and leading Oddin’s global government and regulatory affairs strategy with a view to helping the business further expand its geographic portfolio.
“I’m, of course, hopeful that in the process I will be able to rely on my previous experience in the gambling industry, including 16-plus years of dealing with regulatory, RG and integrity matters all around the world, including North and South America and Europe.”
On potential goals and targets upon joining Oddin, he added the ultimate goal is to “open further horizons for esports betting regulation and adjacent areas”.
