Flutter Entertainment has confirmed that it will close 57 Paddy Power retail betting shops across the UK and Ireland with 247 workers at risk of redundancy.
The decision was made due to increasing cost pressures and challenging market conditions. One Paddy Power betting shop will be closed in Northern Ireland, with 28 to close in the Republic of Ireland. Flutter UKI said staff would be ‘offered redeployment opportunities where possible.’
Flutter said: “The closures will, unfortunately lead to a number of job losses. We are consulting closely with colleagues and providing support to those affected by these changes. We are continually reviewing our high street estate, but it remains a key part of our offer to customers, and we are seeking to innovate and invest where we can as we adapt to different customer trends and needs.”
