OpenBet has announced it is setting up a dedicated AI Centre of Excellence to fulfil its aim of using the technology across product design and player protection, EGR can exclusively reveal.
The supplier is currently undergoing a hiring spree to secure talent for the AI Centre of Excellence, which will be situated in hubs across the UK, Ukraine and Greece.
The multi-jurisdictional approach will allow for “creative and technical capability across multiple offices” while also making sure the centre operates as a central, connected unit, OpenBet said.
The supplier added that the AI will integrate across all job and team functions in the firm.
Roles within the centre’s team include an AI team lead, generative engineers and data engineers. OpenBet will also recruit data scientists, AI solutions managers and knowledge architects.
The business said AI is being deployed for tasks such as improving the accuracy of OpenBet’s bet builder models and streamlining day-to-day workflows.
Further AI expansion and development across trading, risk management, geolocation and responsible gaming is expected.
OpenBet is already using AI via Neccton, the responsible gaming software developer it acquired in June 2023.
Through Neccton, AI and machine learning, OpenBet has been able to identify customers who are at risk of suffering from gambling-related harm.

The supplier is currently developing Neccton 3.0, set to be rolled out later this year.
Discussing the long-term strategy for AI at the supplier, senior vice-president of product SamDepoortere told EGR that OpenBet plans to be at the forefront of how the technology is used in the industry.
He said: “Our long-term strategy is to embed AI into the core of OpenBet’s product strategy and operating model, so it drives value across every part of the business.
“This includes using AI to augment our teams, supported by ongoing training and knowledge-sharing, so that employees at every level can confidently adopt new tools and approaches.
“We are also establishing standardised KPIs to measure the business impact of AI, ensuring that investments translate into tangible outcomes for us and for our partners.
“By taking this structured approach, we can accelerate innovation, safeguard integrity and create a scalable foundation for continuous improvement.
“Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that OpenBet leads the industry in responsible and impactful use of AI, setting the benchmark for how the technology enhances trading, product development and player protection at scale.”
