Former Bally’s senior vice-president and general counsel Robert Saunders has joined leading prize draw operator Omaze as legal director.

Saunders moves to the operator having most recently served as a senior legal consultant for Las Vegas Sands’ since-shuttered Sands Digital Services.

The online B2B arm of the land-based giant closed last October, two years after it launched.

Saunders spent almost five years with Bally’s Interactive across a trio of roles, starting as head of legal in February 2019.

He then moved to vice-president and deputy general counsel for interactive before becoming senior vice-president and general counsel for international in 2023.

Saunders adds online gambling experience to the Omaze senior team in one of the company’s first major hires from the sector.

In September, the prize draw operator onboarded ex-Coinbase vice-president Katherine Minarik as chief legal officer.

That was followed by the appointment of Kewku Yankson as chief people officer from JLL and former Deliveroo exec Adam Bishop being named global chief marketing officer in January.

Omaze is one of the household prize draw operator names in the UK. It was also a founding signatory of the UK government’s prize draw operator code of conduct.

The code went live in November 2025, with operators required to implement its contents by 20 May 2026.

The document includes similarities to requirements licensed UK gambling operators must adhere to, including spending limits and self-exclusion tools.

Including Omaze, 159 operators have signed up to the code at the time of writing.

On his appointment, Saunders said: “I’m delighted to be joining Omaze as legal director, focusing on product and regulatory affairs.

“The opportunity to support an international business in a key strategic role operating at the intersection of growth, regulation and social impact made this a compelling next step.

“Omaze’s model channels significant funding to charitable causes and I look forward to helping navigate the regulatory environment in which it operates.

“I’m grateful to those who offered perspective and challenge during my transition and look forward to working with colleagues across the business as we continue to build.”
