DraftKings has hired former bet365 head of gaming Christian Bogstrand as executive vice-president and general manager of igaming.
Bogstrand arrives from online casino operator Lucky7 Ventures, where he held the position of CEO from February 2022 to March 2025.
Lucky7, which is majority owned by Romanian giant Superbet, went live in Sweden, Mexico and Ontario under Bogstrand’s leadership.
Prior to that, he spent 12 years with bet365 across various positions.
Initially joining the UK-based operator in November 2008 as poker manager, he was then promoted games and poker manager in June 2009.
A further promotion came in January 2011 to head of games and poker, before being named head of gaming in August 2014 until his departure in December 2020.
While CEO, bet365 launched its native mobile casino app.
After a brief sabbatical after leaving Lucky7, Bogstrand announced on LinkedIn he joined DraftKings.
He wrote: “After more than two decades in the igaming industry, I’ve had time to reflect on what the right next chapter might look like.
“Today, I’m excited to share that I’ve joined DraftKings as executive vice-president and general manager of igaming.
“From the fantastic teams to a strong in-house technology foundation and a company-wide focus on delivering best-in-class player experiences, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a business that’s scaling with purpose.
“It’s also a place where I believe I can thrive and continue growing.
“When I first connected with DraftKings, I met a group of founders and leaders who were welcoming, focused and deeply motivated to keep raising the bar. That energy and sense of purpose made the decision to come on board easy.”
DraftKings’ igaming product is live in five US states, and Ontario. Revenue from the vertical hit $853.1m in H1 2025, up from $720.5m in H1 2024.
During the H1 analyst call, DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said that igaming was where the “biggest opportunity and the most growth lies”.
“I think where we have our big opportunity is with that slots casino-first player. There’s a big opportunity to continue to build our brand and reach that slots-first customer.”
Last year, the operator hired its first chief responsible gaming officer, Lori Kalani, in April, shortly followed by the appointment of Linda Aiello as its new chief people officer in May.
A month later, Erik Bradbury returned to the company as chief accounting officer.
Last month, however, CEO Jason Robins said an effective hiring freeze was in place with a push towards agentic AI ramping up at the operator.
