DraftKings is set to launch account linking with ESPN ahead of US college basketball’s March Madness in a step up in the pair’s partnership.

Alongside account linking between the operator and the media giant, DraftKings customers will also have access to the new ‘Bet Your Bracket’ offering, which allows users to load betting odds for picks in their college basketball tournament bracket.

Once fans have created their bracket on ESPN and linked their account to DraftKings, a more “personalised and streamlined experience” will be unlocked that includes bets aligned with their March Madness bracket and tailored betting market suggestions.

DraftKings players will also get one free month of ESPN’s Unlimited streaming plan.

DraftKings and ESPN announced their partnership in November following ESPN’s early termination of its deal with PENN.

PENN had been running the ESPN Bet brand as part of the agreement and previously implemented account linking with its own sportsbook and ESPN.

However, that relationship came to an end, with PENN now using its theScore Bet brand in the US.

No date was given as to when the account linking feature will go live other than it is part of a “strategic collaboration” between ESPN and DraftKings, and part of the operator’s “forward thinking approach” that includes recent launches such as DraftKings Predictions.

Stephanie Sherman, DraftKings chief marketing officer, said: “DraftKings and ESPN share a deep passion for sports and a commitment to enhancing how fans engage with the moments that matter most – especially during the pinnacle of the college basketball season.

“As we work toward bringing the full DraftKings sports experience together nationwide through our upcoming Super App, DraftKings Sports & Casino, integrating account linking with ESPN is a natural step in creating a more seamless, connected platform for fans.”

Mike Morrison, ESPN betting and fantasy vice-president, added: “Account linking creates a level of personalisation that no one else in the market can match.

“The Bet Your Bracket feature during March Madness is just the start. Soon fans will be able to seamlessly track upcoming, live and settled bets within the ESPN app and on ESPN.com and receive bets and timely promotions based on their favourite sports, teams, players and fantasy rosters.”

The announcement follows last week’s news of DraftKings launching its Super App, which will house all of its products under a single umbrella.
