Danske Spil has announced the appointment of Jeppe Juul-Andersen in the operator’s newly created role of chief business development and innovation officer (CBDIO).
The Danish state-owned company has hailed Juul-Andersen’s “deep commercial insight” and “business development” as reasons behind the decision to hand him the role.
He has previously worked with Danske Spil as an external consultant, though Juul-Andersen’s most recent permanent role prior to joining the operator came at Nexi Group-owned Nets Denmark, a digital payments provider.
Juul-Andersen spent just under 12 years with the company, arriving in May 2013 as senior vice-president, before departing in October of last year as country manager for Nets Denmark, by which time the company had been acquired by Nexi Group.
Danske Spil’s new CBDIO has also spent time as deputy CEO of the State Administration between 2011 and 2013, which followed a near eight-year stint at Denmark’s Ecomonic Agency.
Shedding light on his responsibilities at Danske Spil, Juul-Andersen took to LinkedIn to state: “As CBDIO, I will focus on driving innovation, exploring new solutions and ensuring Danske Spil remains well positioned for the future in an ever-changing and highly competitive market.”
Reflecting further on his new role, Juul-Andersen added: “I am really looking forward to starting at Danske Spil.
“It is an organisation with a special place and mission in society, and I have met a great deal of professionalism and extremely dedicated people who make a difference every day for both the customers and for the special assignment of creating profits for the community and many good causes.
“I look forward to building a new strong team where, together with the other areas, we will help develop Danske Spil’s business. It will not be easy, but it will certainly be challenging and exciting.”
Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen, Danske Spil CEO, also welcomed Juul-Andersen’s arrival, stating: “I have been looking forward to welcoming Jeppe to Danske Spil, where with his broad commercial experience he will be at the forefront of strengthening our innovative power and developing new opportunities and partnerships in Denmark and internationally based on Danske Spil’s core business.
“Jeppe’s extensive management experience will be essential when he is to build the new director area and play a central role in ensuring that we stand strong in the future in a highly competitive market where consumption patterns and expectations are changing, and thus that we live up to our fundamental task, namely to create a financial surplus for the benefit of the community through responsible gaming products.”
Back in May, the operator appointed the former mayor of the Herning Municipality, Lars Krarup, as
its new chair following a recommendation from the Danish Ministry of Finance.
Dankse Spil also reported revenue of DKK500m (£57.4m) for the first quarter of 2025, representing a 2% decrease when compared to the same period last year.
