The newest report from the Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden indicates a 3.4% year-on-year decrease in gambling revenue in October 2025 after announcements of new advertising restrictions.
The total revenue of licensed gambling operators was €80 million; however, sports betting revenue fell by 46%, reaching €112 million. The decrease happened despite events like the Danish Superliga, Champions League, and Premier League being active during the period.
On the other hand, revenue generated by land-based casinos increased by 6%, while online casino revenue noted a rise of 24.4%. There were suspicions that the overall gaming revenue was declining because of players turning to unlicensed illegal platforms, but the increasing online gaming revenue says otherwise.
For the 2025 year, Danish gross gaming revenue now stands at around €1.81 billion, excluding lotteries. Online casinos accounted for over half of the revenue, with sports betting following at 28%, gaming machines at 15%, and land-based casinos at 4.95%.
