Dabble has launched the search for a new chief technology officer (CTO) after co-founder Scott Hutchens stepped down from the role.
Hutchens first took up the CTO position when he joined the Australian operator, which launched in the UK last year and runs a DFS business in the US, in July 2020.
He will subsequently continue with the company as a member of technical staff after stepping away from the C-suite.
Prior to joining Dabble, Hutchens amassed previous C-suite experience when he served as CTO of corporate brands for Flight Centre Travel Group between 2016 and 2018.
His industry experience extends to a spell with Entain subsidiary Ladbrokes Australia between 2012 and 2015.
There, he worked as CTO from January 2012 to February 2014, before transitioning to chief information officer until August 2015.
In response to Hutchens stepping down, Dabble has posted a job listing in search of his replacement.
While the role is open to all Dabble locations within Australia, the operator noted candidates based in Melbourne or Brisbane may be preferred.
The remuneration package for the role is set at A$350,000 (£185,455) plus benefits, with “room to be flexible”.
The job description read: “We own our core technology end to end, with code and architecture that has scaled well with us. That’s our edge, and it’s why this role matters.
“We’re looking for a CTO to be accountable for the technology capabilities that will drive our success in technology strategy, engineering capability and execution, platform reliability and resilience, technology risk and security and technology enabled competitive advantage.
“This role is the custodian of technology capabilities that underpin Dabble’s competitive advantage. You’ll sit on our executive leadership team, partner directly with our CEO and board, and balance long-term architecture with the pragmatism to move fast without breaking what punters rely on.
“If you’ve scaled tech businesses globally before, know how to turn tech investment into outcomes rather than headlines, and want to build at genuine pace with real ownership, we’d love to chat.
“This is a rare opportunity to disrupt a crowded market, make meaningful impact on business outcomes, while helping us build the brand that will scale.”
Dabble is also on the hunt for a head of CRM charged with developing and leading a “high-performing team of customer engagement managers across multiple markets”.
The job listing also stated Dabble has ambitions to be in 30 markets by 2030.
In January, Dabble secured an online casino licence in the UK market from the Gambling Commission.
This followed the operator launching its sports betting offering in the UK in May 2025.
Dabble also launched its daily fantasy sports (DFS) offering in Colorado, marking the 31st US state the operator had entered.
Hutchens’ departure marks the first major change at Dabble’s executive level since appointing Brenden Varcoe as chief strategy and commercial officer in December 2024.
