Codere Online CFO Oscar Iglesias plans to step down from his post with the operator by the end of the year at the latest.

Iglesias cited “personal reasons” as the explanation behind his pending resignation, which will come into effect on either 31 December 2025 or once a handover has been completed with his eventual successor, whichever comes sooner.

The operator has announced it plans to appoint Iglesias to its board of directors, pending shareholder approval, which would mark a return to the Codere Online boardroom having served as a member between 2021 and 2023.

As part of his board duties, Codere Online noted Iglesias will “remain actively engaged in driving” the company’s strategic direction.

Over the course of his time as CFO, Iglesias helped guide the Spanish- and Latam-focused operator through its decision to become a Nasdaq-listed company, which was aided by a merger with DD3 Acquisition Corp.

Prior to his tenure as CFO, Iglesias spent just under seven years between February 2015 and December 2021 with Codere Group, Codere Online’s parent company.

During that time, he held the role of deputy CFO before departing the firm as global head of corporate development.

During his announcement, Iglesias made an upbeat nod to his future Codere Online duties: “I am very proud of what we have accomplished together, having successfully delivered on the plan we set out to investors in 2021.

“While I have made the personal decision to move on from a day-to-day role in the company, I look forward to continue supporting Codere Online as both a board member and shareholder of the company.”

Gonzaga Higuero, chairman of the board, praised Iglesias’ impact with the operator, adding: “We are grateful to Oscar for his leadership and dedication over the past decade.

“He has been a trusted partner and a driving force behind our journey from a private company to a Nasdaq-listed organisation. We are pleased that he will remain closely involved with the company as a member of our board.”

Codere Online confirmed it has already begun its search for Iglesias’ successor and outlined its commitment towards a “seamless transition”.
