Codere has launched its online platform in Italy ahead of the authorities confirming which operators will be awarded a licence under the new regime.
Codere Italia was one of 46 brands to be initially approved by the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) in the summer via its Game Division Italy arm.
The ADM database lists Codere and its Codere.it site as an approved operator in the market. The Codere.it site is live with sports betting, online casino, lottery, poker and virtuals.
By 12 November, the ADM will approve the list of licences. New licences will cost €7m (£6.1m) and will cut a longtail of smaller operators out of the market.
The likes of Entain, Flutter, Lottomatica, Betsson, bet365 and Stake were all named on the initial list and are expected to secure a licence.
Stake’s Italy country manager Fabio Bufalini recently told EGR the new market makeup was a “great opportunity” to take share.
Earlier this year, Codere acquired 70% of Codgames – an Italian-facing video lottery terminal and prize machine company.
Alejandro Pascual, Codere’s Italy country manager, said: “With Codere.it, we’re taking a natural yet strategic step to decisively consolidate the online segment as well as maintaining our identity as a committed, regulated and customer-centric operator.
“Our goal is to offer a consistent, high-quality omnichannel experience.
“Codere is strongly interested in developing collaborations with industry partners, particularly those already operating in the national nation? and wish to continue operating online with the support of a solid and trusted brand.”
Roberto Russo, Codere Italia director of online operations, added: “Codere.it was created with the ambition of offering an online experience that meets the highest international standards, combining technology, usability and premium content.
“We have built a solid and scalable platform, ready to grow and adapt to the needs of our users and partners.
“Our approach is long term, with the goal of creating a safe gaming ecosystem capable of establishing itself as a benchmark in the Italian market.”
Codere is live in Spain and Latam via online and retail operations.
