Revamp to add new slots, outdoor gaming area, restaurants and events area
Having just renewed its licence for another 18 years, Circus Casino France is already planning renovations to its Leucate casino with a major project, including an extension, completely transforming the premises. Work is scheduled to begin in 2027, and the group has allocated a budget of €5.3m for the project.
The building’s 1,950 m² floorspace will have a gaming floor covering 830 m², with the remainder dedicated to non-gaming activities. It will house 75 slot machines, 25 of which will be located on the new outdoor terrace. This number will increase to 90 during peak season, from June 15 to September 15, starting in 2027. Three traditional gaming tables (Blackjack, Hyper Blackjack, and Ultimate Poker) and 20 electronic table games (17 English Roulette stations, including nine on the terrace, and three Blackjack stations) will complete the offering.
Speaking to Journal des Casinos, Thierry Letard, the director of the Aude establishment, said: “The 150 m² slot machine terrace will be created using part of the existing restaurant terrace. The restaurant area will also be redesigned, with a 320 m² dining room seating 100 and a 245 m² rooftop terrace accommodating an additional 70 diners. The menu will feature bistro-style cuisine showcasing local products, and a selection of snacks will be available, adapted to the establishment’s opening hours.”
The plans presented by Circus Casino France to the municipality also include a 425 m² function room.
“This extension will allow us to organize shows, concerts, dinner dances, and cabaret evenings,” Letard added.
The casino’s facade will be renovated, and the visitor parking lot will be expanded with 15 additional spaces, bringing its capacity to 65. The completion of the works is expected in the last quarter of 2028.
Letard added: “This major renovation aims to allow the Leucate casino to grow and dream bigger, as has been the case since its acquisition by the Circus group. We aspire to increase our gross gaming revenue and develop our entertainment program, in partnership with the town, such as the Mondial du Vent (World Wind Festival) or the Voix d’Étoiles (Voices of Stars) festival, which celebrates the voices of animated film. It is essential for both the group and the town to have a facility that is not only suitable for these events but also enhances the town’s reputation.”
The director also emphasizes that this project is part of a sustainable environmental approach, the goal of which is to limit the casino’s ecological footprint by promoting environmentally friendly practices. Therefore, particular attention will be paid to the energy efficiency of the buildings, resource management, and landscape integration.
For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the Leucate municipal casino climbed to 113th place in the ranking of French gaming establishments, with gross gaming revenue of €7.32m.
