Fourth Bally’s executive joins Star

Another of Bally’s workforce is making its way to Australia with the Star Entertainment Group confirming the appointment of Charlie Diao as Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO), subject to the grant of an Australian work visa and the completion of regulatory and ministerial approvals being obtained.

Mr Diao is an experienced finance executive with an extensive background in corporate finance, treasury and financial governance. He joins The Star from Bally’s Corporation (USA), where he currently serves as Senior Vice President, Finance and Corporate Treasurer. His prior roles include senior financial leadership positions across corporate and advisory environments.

As Group CFO, Mr Diao will report directly to the Group CEO & Managing Director, Mr Bruce Mathieson Jnr, and will play a critical role in supporting the Company’s financial stability, capital strategy and ongoing transformation activities.

The company also confirms several key executive appointments, subject to all regulatory and ministerial
approvals being obtained: John Koster has commenced as Chief Executive Officer, The Star Sydney. David Whimpey has commenced as Chief Operating Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer,
The Star Brisbane. Tom Boyd has commenced as Interim Group Chief Legal Officer. These appointments bolster The Star’s leadership team across critical operational and corporate functions and reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening governance, operational oversight and executive
depth.

In recent weeks, The Star has named former Vice President and General Manager of Bally’s Lake Tahoe, John Koster, as CEO of The Star Sydney, and has named Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim and President George Papanier on Star’s Board of Directors.
