New slot floor to house 70 state-of-the-art machines
Casino Baden-Baden, located on the outskirts of the Black Forest in South West Germany, is launching a new slot machine gaming area, which is currently being built in the Kurhaus with around 70 new and state-of-the-art machines on an additional level.
The existing area in the basement will be connected to the ground floor barrier-free by an elegant staircase and an elevator, raising the slot machine game to a new level in terms of space and design.
Tobias Wald, Managing Director of Baden-Württembergische Spielbanken, said: “We want to set standards with state-of-the-art technology that integrates harmoniously into the existing charm of the Kurhaus. The new slot machine game will certainly be one of the most beautiful in Europe. We are facing up to the regulatory mandate and want to be a role model. Legal gambling has long had a firm place in social life. Above all, the Casino Baden-Baden with its historic gaming halls in the classic game is an integral part of the program for tourists and guests from home and abroad. The conversion of the slot machine game with high-quality materials, a modern, stylish aesthetic, spacious room design and an expanded gastronomic offer noticeably raises the level of this area and thus ensures stylish gaming in an orderly setting.”
Completion of the conversion is planned for 2027. Talks about a possible expansion of the slot machine game into the predominantly unused areas “Kulisse” and the “Tagungsraum Berlioz” in the Kurhaus already took place in 2024 between Steffen Ratzel, Managing Director of BKV, and Tobias Wald, Managing Director of Baden-Württembergische Spielbanken. In January 2025, the first plans were presented at a meeting with the building department of the city of Baden-Baden, the building mayor, Alexander Wieland, the monument office, the BKV, the office of Kruse Architekten, Kruse and Janod PartGmbB as well as Tobias Wald. In the summer of 2025, the concession extension application was approved by the shareholder of the Baden-Württemberg casinos and the Ministry of the Interior, and the building permit was also granted by the city of Baden-Baden.
With this project, the famous casino on the Oos strengthens its position as a modern example of legal, state-controlled gambling and improved conditions for active player protection.
