The Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC) has once again extended the contract with company Boldt S.A. for the operation of several casino rooms, validating a new period of operation without a bidding process. The provisional extension has been extended by one more year in the Province of Buenos Aires.
The decision was announced through Resolution No. 262 of the IPLyC Buenos Aires , dated March 5 and signed by the head of the provincial regulatory body, Gonzalo Atanasof.
In April 2025 the IPLyC extended the contracts between the agency and the company Boldt S.A. regarding its operation of six gaming rooms: Tandil Casino, Miramar Casino, Annex III Casino of Mar del Plata (Hotel Hermitage), Mar de Ajó, Annex I Casino of Mar del Plata (Hotel Sasso), and Sierra de la Ventana Casino.
Later that month Atanasof, signed a resolution that initiated the bidding process for seven casinos located in different parts of the province, which have so far been operating under an extension of their concession.
The goal is for bidders to invest in building improvements, modernize the gaming floors and slot machine offerings, and develop competitive entertainment spaces with culinary and entertainment options available year-round. Although the envelopes were opened last July, the tender remains stalled highlighting the difficulties in closing the bidding process.
The situation dates back to March 2019, when then-governor María Eugenia Vidal awarded control of the slot machines in most of the province’s casinos to the companies Boldt and Casinos de la Victoria. However, the bidding process for several other casinos, including those at Hermitage, Tandil, and Miramar, was declared “failed” because the bids submitted demanded profits that exceeded what the Executive was willing to accept at the time.
