Betway has announced a partnership with Towcester Racecourse owners Orchestrate to secure course naming rights and bring National Hunt racing back to the Northamptonshire track.
The Super Group-owned brand will become a principal strategic partner of the racecourse, which will in turn be renamed Betway Towcester Racecourse.
The deal marks a first in UK horseracing with an operator securing title rights for a course. All fixtures at the track will also feature Betway as an exclusive betting partner.
Plans are in place to bring action back to the Northamptonshire venue for the start of the 2027-28 jumps season.
The racecourse is in discussions with the British Horseracing Authority to secure the necessary licences.
Betway said that “extensive course and facility refurbishment works” worth more than £2m were underway in preparation for the Autumn 2027 return.
A fly-on-the-wall documentary series will also be produced to follow the journey at Towcester.
The course has not staged a horseracing fixture since May 2018 and was officially closed for the sport the following year.
In the intervening years, Towcester has become a greyhound racing venue and hosted this year’s Greyhound Derby.
In April, Betway was named as The Jockey Club’s new fixed-odds betting partner of the Debenhams July Festival at Newmarket.
Betway has consistently deployed marketing spend for major sponsorships, stretching from football to Formula 1.
Super Group also owns multi-brand online casino Spin. Q1 2026 revenue for the New York-listed business hit $612m, up from $517m in Q1 2025.
Lewis Knowles, Betway PR manager, said: “Towcester has such a rich history within British racing, and we’re delighted to be partnering with the team there to bring horse racing back to what is such an iconic racecourse.
“As principal strategic partners, we plan to offer a truly unique experience for racegoers, owners, trainers and jockeys at Betway Towcester Racecourse.
“The hard work is already well underway as the team prepare the track and facilities for racing’s return.”
Mike Davis, Orchestrate chair, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Betway as principal strategic partner of the refurbished racecourse.
“It has always been our ambition to bring horseracing back to Towcester for the local community and fans of the sport. This partnership turns that vision into a reality.”
Once Towcester Racecourse reopens it will take the total number of racecourses in Britain to 60, though the future for Kempton Park and Chelmsford City is in doubt with the credible threat of closures.
