Betr CEO: DraftKings ‘super app’ move “incredibly validating”

Betr CEO Joey Levy has described DraftKings’ ‘super app’ launch as “incredibly validating” after the tier-one operator unveiled plans to integrate its prediction markets product into its sports and casino app earlier this month.

The micro-betting-focused sports operator launched in 2022, using the ‘super app’ terminology to highlight it had a range of gaming products available in one place.

With DraftKings announcing the launch of its own “Super App” on 2 March, Levy was asked if he was frustrated at the operator moving its tanks onto Betr’s lawns, but he insisted he was flattered by what he perceived as an emulation of the firm’s strategy.

Speaking at the NEXT summit in New York, Levy said:  “We thought DraftKings’ app launch was incredibly validating. You have this company that did over $6bn in revenue last year.

“Its stocks have been a little bit under pressure because investors are worried about cannibalisation from prediction markets.

“It had to come out with a bold stand and new strategy. With all its people, resources and credibility it decided to do what we’ve been doing for years and are a first mover on.”

He continued: “We’re growing really quickly ourselves and reaching a nice level of scale. We’re going to continue to invest into our first-mover advantage.”

On the panel, Levy also discussed Betr’s recent move into the prediction market space in partnership with Polymarket.

Betr’s ‘super app’ will now host the event contracts alongside its daily fantasy picks, social sportsbook, social casino and arcade products.

The CEO noted: “We built the first real-money gaming (and financial now that we’re in prediction markets) super app in this industry.

“At the end of the day, we just want to offer a nationwide product we know consumers want to have; we want to build these great user experiences.

“There are a variety of different regulatory frameworks that enable us to do that.

“Prediction markets could provide that nationwide opportunity, and we’re really excited about it.”

Levy described Polymarket as “the global leader in prediction markets” and said Betr wanted to be part of the platform’s “big US launch”.

“We built this strategy where, whether it’s fantasy pick ‘em, social sportsbook, social casino, prediction markets or skill games, we want a strong user experience,” he added.

“We want the option to offer our super app in most of the country regardless of what the regulatory environment ends up looking like three to five years from now.”
