BetHog co-founder and CEO Nigel Eccles has said he expects suppliers and operators to develop their own versions of the crypto-centric firm’s new AI-powered blackjack dealer, Sunny.
BetHog revealed the AI-powered croupier this week, which will give players a “fresh, interactive experience” and even offer advice during play.
Sunny will also remember past conversations with users, BetHog added.
Speaking to EGR following Sunny’s launch, Eccles said the product had been developed in-house over three months prior to launch.
The FanDuel co-founder said Sunny was a “tricky product to build” and that he expects the industry to replicate similar AI-powered dealers.

He remarked: “I think it’s going happen. We are the starting gun and we don’t think she’s [Sunny] complete either.
“We are going to see other people trying to emulate it, [though] it’s harder than people expect and was definitely harder than we thought.
“When you start working with AI, you have to coach it. It’s not like programming. We’ve got a lot of blackjack players on our product. So, it’s a pretty big innovation.”
Eccles said he came up with the concept on the back of being a “pretty big” blackjack player himself, adding human dealers can be “hit and miss” but mostly “robotic”.
Plans are in place to release other personalities in the future and expand the AI dealer capabilities into other games.
He added: “She’s the first. We actually had a number in testing and then she was by far the favourite.
“There’s some other ideas of really different personalities we want to put out there.
“What we built can be extended to other games. [That is] something we’re also thinking about.”
