Former evoke director of UK compliance and regulatory affairs Kizzie Fenner has joined Betfred as group compliance director.

Fenner will join the executive leadership team at the operator. Betfred is live in the UK and South Africa, having disposed of its online Spanish arm for £2m in December 2024.

She announced she was leaving evoke last month, ending her five-year stay with the operator.

First joining the William Hill, 888 and Mr Green parent company in February 2021 as group legal counsel, Fenner was promoted to group associate legal counsel and then to group senior legal counsel during a two-year period.

While serving as evoke’s UK compliance director, she led a team of over 100 compliance professionals “while navigating the complexities of the UK’s regulatory environment”.

Prior to her time at evoke, Fenner worked for Ricoh Europe as associate legal counsel from December 2018 to January 2021 and was a lawyer for Womble Bond Dickinson between September 2016 to December 2018.

Announcing her move to Betfred on LinkedIn, Fenner wrote: “I’m energised by the clear ambition, growth mindset and drive to do things well.

“Getting out to meet everyone across my team and the wider business has been one of my highlights so far; it’s rare to walk into an environment and feel so quickly that you’re in the right place.

“I’m looking forward to leading a group compliance function that supports and enables the business to grow with purpose and confidence.”

The privately owned operator reported a £128.8m post-tax profit for the 78-week period ending 30 March 2025, as per Companies House filings released in January.

The founders and owners of the business, Fred and Peter Done, were named as the highest taxpayers in the UK in 2025, according to The Sunday Times Tax List.

Rumours swirled earlier this year that Betfred could be interested in acquiring William Hill’s retail estate after evoke commenced a strategic review in December.

This week, Bally’s Intralot was confirmed to be in talks to acquire evoke in a £225m deal. The operator has until 18 May to submit a final offer.
