BetFIRST’s chief product officer (CPO), Julien Roux, has announced he will be stepping down from the role in two months’ time.

Roux will depart in two months’ time following the end of the “transition phase” initiated by Betsson’s acquisition of the Belgian operator in 2023.

Joining in May 2014, Roux worked his way up from sportsbook product manager to the role of senior product manager in 2020.

In May 2022, one year before the acquisition of betFIRST, Roux became CPO at the Belgian outfit.

Stockholm-listed Betsson acquired betFIRST in the middle of 2023 for €120m in a cash-plus-earnout deal.

At the time, Betsson said the purchase gave it “critical access” to the Belgian market.

BetFIRST CEO Alexis Murphy also left the firm this year, immediately replaced by COO Philip Wilson.

Betsson announced Q4 2025 EBITDA decline of 20% year on year alongside flat revenue.

Roux wrote in a LinkedIn post: “Nearly three years ago, I was immensely proud of being at the heart of the sales process that saw Betsson Group acquire betFIRST.

“As the transition phase is now coming to an end, I will be stepping down from my CPO duties in a couple of months’ time.

“After leading the incredibly talented and passionate product team for more than 12 years, it’s time for me to begin a new chapter.

“It’s time for me to also reflect on this outstanding journey which made betFIRST become a very well-established operation in the Belgian regulatory igaming landscape and embraced countless successes from developing our own innovating in-house platform to obtaining the A+ casino licence to achieving a few tricky migrations across all three verticals.”
