Bally’s Corporation CFO and executive vice-president (EVP) Mira Mircheva has resigned from her posts, with company president George Papanier to step in to the finance role on an interim basis.
The operator said Mircheva’s departure was effective from 4 September but will remain until the 30 September to “ensure a seamless leadership transition”. “Personal reasons” were cited as the motive for her exit.
Papanier joined Bally’s as COO in 2004 before serving as president and CEO between 2011 and 2021. He became president of Bally’s land-based casino operations from 2021. He previously took on the role of interim CFO in 2023.
Mircheva became Bally’s CFO last year following the firm’s $4.6bn merger with Standard General and the Queen Casino & Entertainment (QCE) at the start of 2025. She held the same position at QCE from September 2023.
Prior to her move into the gambling industry, Mircheva spent eight years as a partner at Standard General.
From 2009 to 2015, she was a senior research analyst for the Xerion fund at Perella Weinberg Partners, and from 2001 to 2008 she worked at Goldman Sachs.
Bally’s said Papanier would continue in his roles as president and as a member of the board of directors, and that the board had begun searching for a permanent CFO.
Robeson Reeves, Bally’s CEO, remarked: “On behalf of the entire board and executive management team, I want to thank Mira for her dedication to Bally’s, and we wish her great success going forward.
“Having spent more than two decades in key operating and financial leadership roles at Bally’s, George has been instrumental in developing our business model, asset portfolio and growth strategy.
“He steps into the interim role supported by an experienced finance organisation, and I am confident our reporting, controls and capital markets work will continue without disruption.”
In August, Bally’s Intralot, majority owned by Bally’s Corporation, revealed it had been able to mitigate almost two thirds of Great Britain’s remote gaming duty hike’s impact on EBITDA.
In June, after months of speculation, Bally’s Intralot finally agreed on an all-share acquisition of evoke for £243m.
