ATG has named Swedish Trotting Association boss Jörgen Forsberg as its interim CEO to plug the gap left by Hasse Lord Skarplöth.
Skarplöth stepped down from the Swedish horseracing operator in February after it was revealed he and the board had “different views” on future strategy.
The former CEO had held the role for more than 13 years. He was replaced in the interim by ATG chair Peter Norman.
The operator has now handed the reins to Forsberg, who is expected to lead the business until a permanent CEO is found.
Forsberg will retain his position as Swedish Trotting Association CEO while running ATG on an interim basis.
Swedish Trotting Association vice-president Ulf Hörnberg will oversee some “major operational CEO issues” at the organisation while Forsberg straddles both entities.
Forsberg was named as Swedish Trotting Association CEO in January. He was previously the CEO and chair of Stockholms Travsällskap which runs the Solvalla racecourse.
Prior to moving into racing, Forsberg held senior positions in the automotive industry both in Sweden and internationally.
Forsberg said: “While waiting for a new CEO, I look forward to continuing to develop ATG together with all of ATG’s employees according to the board’s plans and safeguarding the company’s important role for the Swedish horse industry.”
Norman added: “I welcome Jörgen Forsberg to ATG. He will lead the work of implementing the plans decided by the board and be acting CEO until a new CEO is recruited. The recruitment process for a permanent solution is ongoing.”
Anders Källström, Swedish Trotting Association chair, noted: “Jörgen Forsberg has extensive leadership experience and a strong commitment to equestrian sports.
“From the ownership side, we are both confident and grateful that he has accepted the role as acting CEO of ATG during the recruitment process for a new CEO.”
