ATG has announced the appointment of former Svenska Spel and NetEnt head Anna Romboli as the company’s new CEO.
Romboli will officially take on the top job in December 2026, with acting CEO Jörgen Forsberg continuing in an interim capacity until then.
She takes on the position vacated by Hasse Lord Skarplöth in February after 13 years at the firm’s helm. Swedish Trotting Association boss Forsberg was drafted in as interim chief in early March.
Romboli joins ATG after nearly seven years with fellow Swedish operator Svenska Spel, where she worked as vice-president of the state-owned company’s lottery arm, Tur, since August 2019.
Romboli officially departed Svenska Spel on 10 June. Christian Tönseth has been named as her interim replacement while the operator sources a new Tur boss.
Prior to joining Svenska Spel, Romboli spent five years in various positions at NetEnt between 2014 and 2019.
There she held the role of chief communications officer from April 2014 to April 2018, before taking on the position of senior vice-president from April 2018 to July 2019.
Romboli has also served as vice-president of brand and communications at design consultancy Veryday from August 2007 through to April 2014.
She has also held board positions at the Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling (2017 to 2019) and the Lotteries Entertainment Innovation Alliance (2020 onward).
On her appointment, Romboli said: “I am very happy and proud to be entrusted with leading ATG. It is a company with a strong history, many committed employees and a special significance for the Swedish horse industry.
“I look forward to continuing to develop the offering to our 1.4 million customers together with the employees and building on what makes ATG unique.”
ATG chair Peter Norman added: “Anna has extensive experience in the gaming industry and has shown for many years that she can develop both businesses and people.
“She is a leader who combines business acumen with great commitment and customer focus. The board is very pleased that she has accepted the assignment as CEO of ATG.”
ATG confirmed it made a series of redundancies across the company as part of its earnings report for the first quarter of 2026.
