Apple has appointed Ross Hartnett, a former executive at Snap, as the new leader of its real-money gaming (RMG) division.

Hartnett transitions to Apple following an eight-year tenure at Snapchat’s parent company, where he began as an account manager in November 2016. He later shifted to the RMG team in January 2019 as an account executive, eventually advancing to the role of senior account executive by March 2021.

Most recently, Hartnett held the position of sales manager for Snap’s RMG division, a role he occupied from April 2022 until his recent move to Apple. Before his time at Snap, Hartnett spent over three years working as a consumer trends analyst at the creative and media agency Deep Focus.

In his new position with Apple, Hartnett will be operating out of New York. Currently, Apple is in the process of expanding its RMG team and has job listings for two additional roles: a RMG platform specialist and a client partner, both also in New York.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Hartnett stated, “I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Apple as head of industry for real-money gaming. I couldn’t be more excited to start this next chapter with such an iconic company. I’m so grateful for the experiences and connections I’ve built over the past eight years at Snap, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the dynamic team at Apple and reconnecting with the amazing partners in the RMG space.”

Meanwhile, Apple’s stock reached a 52-week high on December 17, closing at $253.48, marking a 36.5% increase so far this year.
