Alvarez & Marsal has added to its betting and gaming team with the arrival of former KPMG head Nigel Hinchliffe as a managing director.
Hinchliffe will join the team, led by Adam Rivers, after more than seven years with the accounting giant in his most recent spell with the firm.
During his time with KPMG, Hinchliffe led the Manchester-based transaction advisory team and co-led its UK betting and gaming practice.
Alvarez & Marsal said Hinchliffe’s expertise in buy- and sell-side financial due diligence (FDD) would be vital to its growth plans.
The firm said: “Mr. Hinchliffe will expand A&M’s existing betting and gaming proposition across EMEA.
“Having spent four years as part of the corporate development function of a FTSE 100 gaming business, he is well positioned to provide clients with industry level insights throughout the deal cycle.”
The new Alvarez & Marsal head also spent four years with Ladbrokes Coral between October 2013 and August 2017. That was preceded by an initial eight-year spell with KPMG.
Joining Hinchliffe in Alvarez & Marsal is Connor Sheridan-Ross, who also joins Rivers’ betting and gaming team from KPMG.
Earlier this year, Rivers, himself an ex-KMPG head, left the business to launch Alvarez & Marsal’s betting and gaming team.
He was joined by fellow KPMG execs James Bentley, Charlie Leach and Séamus McGowen.
Speaking on his arrival, Hinchliffe said: “A&M’s global network of industry experts alongside Global TAG’s proven FDD capabilities are the perfect platform for our full-suite betting and gaming practice.
“Our freedom from audit conflicts, sector experience and global connectivity will make for the most responsive and insightful due diligence team in the sector.”
