Allwyn has appointed former Virginia Lottery executive director Khalid Jones as the new CEO of its North America subsidiary.
Jones, who will join Allwyn North America on 6 July, left the Virginia Lottery in May, having led the firm since April 2024.
Former Virginia executive director Kevin Hall, who served in the role between 2018 and 2022, will return to replace Jones.
Jones’ arrival at Allwyn North America brings an end to the division’s hunt for a permanent CEO, following the departure of Wayne Pickup last year.
Pickup, who had been in charge since 2018, moved to The Lottery Corporation in Australia to become its new CEO and MD in November.
Since then, Allwyn North America general counsel and general manager Keith Horton stepped in as interim CEO.
Allwyn North America is the operator of the Illinois Lottery and also supplies digital games to other US and Canadian lotteries.
The business’ portfolio includes instant wins and FastPlay games provided to the likes of the Kentucky Lottery, Michigan Lottery, DC Lottery and Loto-Québec.
The games portfolio encompasses the Instant Win Gaming brand that Allwyn took a majority stake in two years ago.
Net revenue from North America in 2025 was €232m, representing a slight decline compared to the €234m reported in 2024.
Adjusted EBITDA for the division fell 3% from €45m to €42m.
Allwyn North America solely focuses on lottery operations, meaning Jones’ remit will not extend to DFS company PrizePicks.
Allwyn snapped up a majority 62.3% stake in the Atlanta, Georgia-based business last year for $1.6bn.
From 2026, PrizePicks will be included on Allwyn North America’s P&L for reporting.
Robert Chvátal, Allwyn CEO, said: “I’m pleased to share that Khalid Reede Jones will be joining us as CEO of Allwyn North America.
“Khalid brings a rare mix of regulatory insight, commercial experience and a genuine commitment to responsible growth.
“A digitally minded leader who understands the power of partnerships and innovation – I know his perspective and energy will be hugely valuable to our North American business.”
