Allwyn has hired Katie Harbron as its new director of games as part of its strategy to drive innovation in its games portfolio and overhaul the National Lottery’s digital platform.

Harbron joins from challenger brand MrQ, where she spent a year as the online casino’s chief product officer.

Prior to that, she worked for several Flutter Entertainment brands over a decade.

Between November 2023 and March 2025, she worked in the group’s UK and Ireland division as its product director.

Before that, Harbron spent two-and-a-half years at Sky Betting and Gaming , between June 2021 and November 2023, as its director of product, DUX (designing for user experiences) and content.

Harbron also spent more than eight years with bingo operator tombola prior to Flutter snapping up the Sunderland-based business for £402m in 2021.

Joining in March 2013 as a product manager before a promotion to head of product and R&D in February 2015, Harbron became head of product and commercial development in January 2018.

In her new role at Allwyn, Harbron will be tasked with overseeing the performance and development of the National Lottery operator’s draw-based and instant win games.

She will also lead Allwyn’s team of product marketers and innovation managers.

Richard Dawkins, Allwyn managing director of digital, said: “Katie brings extensive experience in leading product, content and commercial development for global brands.

“I am really excited about the impact I know she and her team will have as we further develop our games to meet the evolving needs of our players and to ensure we responsibly generate more money for good causes.”

Harbron added: “I have always admired The National Lottery and the unique position it holds in the UK; so the opportunity to play a part in innovating the games is incredibly exciting.”

At the start of the year, Allwyn announced it was overhauling the National Lottery’s digital platform, introducing a new range of games, better player protection tools and an upgraded interface.

Allwyn also reshuffled its retail division in January with a new managing director as Bridget Lea joined from Snapchat parent company Snap.
