In 2025, Brazil’s regulated sports betting and online gaming market generated €5.96 billion in gambling revenue and €1.9 billion in tax revenue, as reported by the Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA).
In December 2025, 79 companies had authorization to operate in Brazil, while 25.2 million citizens placed bets during the year. The government collected over €281.1 million in authorization fees paid by operators and €10.7 million in inspection payments.
Additionally, the SPA created the Centralized Self-Exclusion Platform in December 2025, which received more than 217,000 requests for voluntary self-exclusion in just 40 days. 73% of the self-exclusions were for indefinite periods, while 19% were for one-year bans.
Two reasons for self-exclusions were mostly selected, 37% were for loss of control over gambling and mental health, and 25% for concerns about the use of personal data by the platforms.
The tool allows self-exclusion and blocks all betting accounts connected to the CPF (the Brazilian taxpayer ID), as well as prevents new registrations and targeted advertising. The platform also provides information about Brazil’s public health system (SUS) service points for mental health support and problem gambling.
Throughout 2025, over 25,000 unlicensed betting sites were blocked by the SPA in collaboration with the Brazilian telecommunications regulatory agency, Anatel.
