FDJ United launches ‘Safe Play’ responsible gambling initiative

FDJ United has announced the launch of its ‘Safe Play’ responsible gaming initiative. 

The campaign was launched today (12 January), with the rollout covering print media and FDJ United’s social media platforms. 

As part of the rollout, the France-based operator has pledged to spend at least 10% of the overall group’s advertising budget on safer gambling awareness campaigns.  

Safe Play will see the company deploying tools to help players cultivate good responsible gaming habits.  

FDJ United has also committed to providing training to its partners on safer gambling obligations and best practices.  

In addition to providing support for research and partnerships, the operator stated it will strictly enforce France’s ban on underage gambling by carrying out mystery shopper visits and other checks.  

The company confirmed that all of its commercial brands, including ParionsSport, FDJ, Unibet and ZEturf, will adopt the initiative in order to “guarantee consistent, readable and accessible communication for players”. 

An FDJ United statement read: “As the European leader in gambling and games of chance, FDJ United makes responsibility a central pillar of its strategy.  

“For over 20 years, the group has been working to ensure that gambling remains a controlled pleasure, developing innovative initiatives to prevent the risks associated with excessive gambling, protect minors and support vulnerable individuals.  

“Its responsible gaming policy, certified at the highest level by the European Lotteries Association since 2009, is part of an internationally recognised approach. With the ‘Safe Play’ programme, FDJ United is taking a further step: a comprehensive and ambitious commitment, deployed across all its markets and brands.” 

Vincent Perrotin , director of sustainability and engagement at FDJ United, added: “Gambling is not like any other activity. While it remains recreational for 95% of players, it carries risks and can cause significant harm to some.  

“That’s why FDJ United is committed to responsible gaming, in line with its mission, notably through the Safe Play campaign, a new visual identity shared by all the Group’s brands to highlight our player protection initiatives.” 

FDJ United is a key driver of growth for the entire French market, which saw GGR jump 3.5% year on year to €5.7bn in H1 2025.
