Turnover hits €424m for Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate
After the record year 2024, Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz achieved the second-highest annual turnover since 2008 in the past year 2025. At €424m, total sales were around 2.8 per cent lower than in the previous year.
“We are pleased with a solid and stable financial year,” says Rhineland-Palatinate Lotto Managing Director Jürgen Häfner, looking back on 2025. “In 2024, we had the highest annual turnover in 17 years with high-jackpot phases lasting several weeks in the EUROJACKPOT lottery. So it is understandable that the sales curve, which has been steadily rising for years, took a little breather last year.”
Overall, the Koblenz Glücksschmiede is satisfied with the result, as Jürgen Häfner emphasizes: “We have not seen a major decline in any of our game offerings. This proves that we have a loyal regular clientele who appreciate our serious and moderate gaming offerings. Our stable customer base, in the collection points or online, as well as our modern product range continue to be the basis of our solid work.”
Last year, the company tackled two major projects that are nearing completion: equipping all of the approximately 870 collection points with state-of-the-art terminals and roofing the company car park in Koblenz with a 2000 m² photovoltaic system that will cover a third of the electricity requirements of the entire company headquarters.
The year 2025 also brought with it a record win: With a stake of only 21.25 euros, a player from the Hunsrück-Nahe area landed the highest Rhineland-Palatinate lottery win of all time right at the start of the year. In the Eurojackpot lottery, he cracked the jackpot all by himself and won a spectacular 80.4 million euros.
In total, there were 78 prizes of €100,000 and more last year. 17 Rhineland-Palatinate residents secured sums of money over €500,000, seven of them even became millionaires. The total prize distribution to the players was around 201m euros. In total, over 41 million game orders were processed again in 2025.
As every year, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate was also a big winner in 2025. “The lotteries offered serve the legal channelling mandate to steer the gambling instinct of the population into orderly channels. Player and youth protection are always the top priority. Around €144m flowed into the state budget from taxes and revenues from the organisation of the state lotteries. In total, lottery revenues support the common good in Rhineland-Palatinate with around €407,000 every day,” emphasizes the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, State Secretary Dr. Stephan Weinberg.
The most popular product in 2025 was also the gambling classic LOTTO 6aus49, which also celebrated its 70th birthday, among other things with the relaunch of the Super-DING – a limited lottery ticket with 50 lottery boxes played and a guaranteed prize. This offer led to the intended strengthening of the classic.
With a stake of over 167m euros, Lotto recorded a slight decline of around 2.9 per cent. The European lottery EUROJACKPOT once again came in second, with a decline of around 6.9 per cent to over €125m compared to the record year 2024 due to fewer high-jackpot phases. “Our two main products also secured us a solid basis last year with over 71 percent of total sales,” says Managing Director Jürgen Häfner.
The GlücksSpirale, the additional lottery Sieger-Chance and the environmental lottery BINGO! led to direct payments of over €4.7m to charitable organizations, the so-called beneficiaries. “That’s why not only the players were the winners here, but also many organizations for the common good in Rhineland-Palatinate,” reports Lotto Managing Director Jürgen Häfner.
The lottery BINGO! increased by around 14 per cent to a total stake of around €3.2m, while the GlücksSpirale and Sieger-Chance recorded slight declines of around 2.8 per cent to a total of over €15.7m.
In addition to the representatives from the sports sector (German Olympic Sports Confederation, German Sports Aid Foundation, Rhineland-Palatinate State Sports Association and Rhineland-Palatinate Sports Aid Foundation), the beneficiaries of the GlücksSpirale and Sieger-Chance lotteries are the Federal Association of Independent Welfare Services, the German Foundation for the Protection of Monuments, the Rhineland-Palatinate Nature and Environment Foundation and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Music Council. In the lottery BINGO! In addition to the Nature and Environment Foundation, the State Development Network (ELAN) also benefits.
The New Year’s Million was once again a crowd favorite in 2025 and sold out early in the first half of December after only six weeks. “Thanks to this lottery, we were able to celebrate the first millionaire of 2026 in Rhineland-Palatinate right at the start of the year,” says Jürgen Häfner happily.
The approximately 870 collection points remain the backbone of the company’s success, accounting for around 70 percent of the total stake. “They are and will remain the supporting pillar of our sales,” says the managing director. Therefore, all of them are currently being equipped with state-of-the-art new gaming terminals in order to continue to be up to date at the point of sale. “With this investment of around seven million euros, we are making our collection points fit for the future in terms of innovation, service and customer friendliness,” says Häfner, who thanks the approximately 6400 employees in the collection points for their outstanding almost daily commitment.
The customer-friendly innovations also included the introduction of the free customer card, which ensures more security and transparency in the payment of winnings through the personal assignment of game participation.
The moderate growth trend continued on the Internet: online use rose by almost 5.9 percent to over 55 million euros. More than 182,000 customers are now registered with Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz to play via the Internet. “In 2025, 17,000 customers were added, who often use the secure and convenient game via website and redesigned app as an additional option,” explains the managing director.
“We are still aware of the perspective importance of the Internet offer, especially for betting via smartphones and tablets,” Jürgen Häfner clarifies. With the exception of the New Year’s Million, which is reserved exclusively for the sales offices, all offers from the Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz product range can now be played both in the sales offices and on the Internet. This achieves the company’s goal of providing its customers with a responsible and future-oriented range of games on both sales channels.
Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH, whose shareholders are the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the sports associations of Rhineland, Palatinate and Rheinhessen, will continue to be a reliable partner for sport and culture in our state as well as a loyal supporter of social initiatives and climate protection projects. “This is the DNA of our company,” says Jürgen Häfner: “This has always distinguished us from many other providers on the gambling market.”
Last year, the Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation was able to support almost 1300 projects in the areas of social, cultural and sports with €1.4m. With the collection campaign of the “Initiative Kinderglück”, more than €40,000 were collected in 2025 for projects against violence against children on the Internet.
“With our 155 employees, six district directorates and around 6400 employees in the sales offices, we will do everything we can in 2026 to sustainably strengthen the state-owned, reputable and safe gambling offer in Rhineland-Palatinate and thus social coexistence in our state,” concludes Jürgen Häfner optimistically.
