Entain has revealed that The Grand National was the most popular betting event of 2025, holding off the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.
The Aintree spectacle held onto its crown as the the most bet-on event across Entain’s global sportsbook, including BetMGM in the US.
However, Entain’s ranking did not include data from Australia, Eurobet, Enlabs, Crystalbet, STS or SuperSport.
While The Grand National was out in front, it was one of only a handful of horseracing events to make it into Entain’s top 50.
The other meetings from the sport were the Cheltenham Gold Cup (14th), the Scottish Grand National (21st) and Cheltenham’s Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (27th) and St James’s Palace Chase (50th).
American football betting interest was powered by the sport’s dominance in the US via BetMGM and a surging popularity across the rest of the world.
Alongside the Super Bowl, the AFC Championship game (fourth) and the NFC Championship game (sixth) were able to break into the top 10.
Football dominated the rest of the ranking, with the Champions League final (fifth) and Club World Cup final (seventh) the best-performing games.
However, the Champions League final had been in third in 2024.
Manchester United versus Liverpool appeared in the rankings twice, demonstrating the Premier League’s international reach.
The US Masters, where Rory McIlroy famously completed his career Grand Slam, climbed to third.
The Augusta showpiece was the only golf event to make it into the top 50. No other sports featured in Entain’s list.

“Beyond these leading top two events, the diversity in the top 50 of different sports reflects our global reach and the varied passions of millions of fans worldwide.”
