Aim is for €2.5m in GGR and to put Biscarrosse on the map

French businessmen Benjamin Frischer and Patrick Delahaye have taken over the operational reins of the Casino de Biscarrosse in the French region of Landes from the COGIT group.

Located facing the Atlantic Ocean in southwest France, it offers slots, blackjack and electronic table gaming. Already partners in the operation of the Hendaye casino in the region of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Frischer and Delahaye are planning a total investment of €900,000 into the casino over two years with €600,000 in the first year and €300,000 in the second. Its aim is to reach €2.5m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) within two years, a marked increase from the €1.91m it generated during the 2023-2024 financial year, which put the casino in 190th place in the French rankings.

Speaking to Journal des Caisnos, Benjamin Frischer said: “We are very happy about this new adventure. It’s a new challenge, less than two hours from Hendaye, with a casino of similar size, which has a gross gaming revenue (GGR) similar to that of the Hendaye casino when we took it over in 2021. We hope to make it grow like the Hendaye casino, where this year we are recording the best growth in France, with more than 24.11 per cent.”

Casino de Biscarrosse was inaugurated in its new colours on Saturday, December 13, but is about to undergo a facelift.

“This casino will be developed in several phases,” Mr Frischer explained. “The first will consist of a home staging operation to bring it up to date. Wallpaper, carpeting, ceilings, and a redesign of the spaces to improve traffic flow are all on the agenda.”

From the very first day, visitors were able to try out 18 new slot machines that have been installed in the gaming room, while the entire machine inventory will be replaced within two years with more modern cabinets.

“An eight-station Alfastreet roulette table, with integrated Blackjack, as well as additional stations in the smoking room, will soon complete the setup,” added the new owner, who also indicates that the Blackjack table will remain, but that the stakes will increase from two to five euros. A new, dynamic, and digital entertainment area will also be created.

The second phase of development will begin next January with a complete renovation of the restaurant at Casino de Biscarrosse. With seating for 36, open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, it will be chic, modern, and Italian-inspired. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from midnight, it will transform into a bar with live music.

“We are going to adapt the Pasta Fortuna Bisca concept, which has been very successful in Hendaye, to Biscarrosse,” Mr Frischer explained, with the inauguration of this second phase scheduled for February 6.

Finally, a third phase of work will take place during the winter of 2026. This involves a new smoking room, located on the ground floor of the casino. It will offer 12 slot machines and remote stations for electronic English roulette.

As for the Public Service Delegation (DSP), it runs until October 2026. A new concession call for tenders should be issued at the beginning of the year. “The town hall wants to give us the chance to prove ourselves by launching a three-year delegation to show that our approach to revitalising this casino suits them. For our part, we are delighted with the welcome and the trust shown in us by this municipality,” he said, before paying tribute to his predecessors, Henri Ernoult and Gilles Defert, of the COGIT group. “We took over a casino with very sound management, and I wish Patrick and me the same longevity, as they ran this establishment for over 20 years,” he added.
