Malta’s €60m investment pipeline will span iGaming, esports and digital sectors

Malta has outlined a pipeline of eight investment projects worth €60m, expected to generate 1,300 jobs by the end of next year. The announcement followed a meeting convened by Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri, who brought together chief executives from major gaming, esports and digital companies.

Schembri said the sector is evolving rapidly and that Malta is strengthening its position as technology-driven industries expand. He highlighted the opportunities emerging across esports, video game development and iGaming.

In esports, Imperial, one of Brazil’s largest organisations, confirmed Malta will host its main European office from December. BLAST TV said it is registering its entity in Malta and plans to operate and host events from the jurisdiction as part of a €10m, three-year investment. The company also outlined its ambition to reach 3.2 billion followers by 2025.

Unity announced continued investment in education and training programmes aimed at preparing young people in Malta for careers in game development. In digital marketing, Clever will open new offices in Gżira following a €6m investment and has also committed €1.5m to video gaming company NARC. Gentoo Media has invested €1.2m in new facilities, enabling its workforce to grow from 70 to 130 employees.

Within iGaming, Soft2Bet said it has invested €20m over four years, including the opening of new offices in Mrieħel with a focus on developing local talent. Religa expects to expand its team from 200 to 700 employees by year-end, supported by a €21m investment. Eeze has announced a €30m commitment across offices, training and technology, with plans to scale from 500 to 1,200 employees by the first quarter of next year.

Schembri said Malta is seeing the emergence of new economic segments and forward-looking investments. He encouraged gaming companies to extend the same level of support they provide to foreign sports teams to Maltese sports organisations.
